The 2023 Global Partnership Week and the International Student Culture Day of SUES were a remarkable success, taking place on October 16th on Songjiang Campus. Vice President Xia Chunming attended and announced the opening of Global Partnership Week. Representatives from the Department of Human Resources, Academic Affairs Office, Student Affairs Office, Graduate School Office, External Liaison Office, School of Management Studies, School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, School of Art and Design, School of Textiles and Fashion, and International Institute of Creative Design, along with other administrative leaders, participated in the event. The Global Partnership Week and the International Student Culture Day were organized by Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, with College of International Education in charge. The opening ceremony was hosted by Wang Qin, Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and Dean of College of International Education.

During the 2023 International Student Culture Day, the international students delivered a captivating and multifaceted cultural and artistic performance. The festivities began with a dragon dance in which Vice President Xia Chunming had the honor of dotting the dragon's eye, symbolically marking the University's ascent on the global stage, akin to a majestic dragon taking flight. The event continued with a showcase of traditional songs and dances, followed by an engaging fashion show highlighting the vibrant national costumes of countries such as Bangladesh, Morocco, Laos, Pakistan, Comoros, Yemen, and Chad. The celebration featured Chinese martial arts and dragon dance performances, where youths from various countries demonstrated their comprehension for the symbolism of the Chinese dragon and the profound traditions of Chinese culture. Their collaborative efforts not only showcased the coexistence of strength and flexibility in the realm of Chinese Kung Fu but also exemplified the dynamic evolution of Chinese culture.

At the event, students from different countries put together a National Cultural Exhibition, welcoming SUES faculty and students to enjoy a diverse range of world cuisines, take part in interactive games, and delve into the unique cultural features of each country. SUES teachers and students sought shared experiences on this cultural exchange platform, spreading friendship and peace.

As global educational cooperation and in-person exchanges among countries accelerate their resurgence, restarting in-person exchanges with international partners of SUES and maintaining close high-level dialogues and faculty-student visits are essential. These actions play a critical role in advancing SUES’ internationalization strategy, promoting the concept of open education, and expanding collaboration channels. The development of the Global Partnership Week as an exchange platform will help SUES deepen its cooperative relationships with both new and long-standing partner universities and further enhance its international development. This aligns with the requirements of education in the new era, which emphasizes increased global openness. The 2023 Global Partnership Week, taking place from October 16 to 21, is a carefully planned special event aimed at deepening international exchanges and fostering friendships. It has received guidance from Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and International Education Association Shanghai.
